Graveyard Keeper 2 Zombie Production Line — Automation Setup

Build a real production line: one operator per station, one supplier per zone, porters between zones, and enough carousel power for every conveyor tile.

Graveyard Keeper 2 Zombie Production Line — Automation Setup

What does a zombie production line need to run?

Three roles, and missing any one of them stalls the line. An operator zombie stands at the work station and runs the recipe. A Zombie Supplier Station with a zombie on it feeds the stations in that zone. A Porter moves goods between zones, and a Zombie Supply Porter pulls finished goods off a conveyor.

The critical rule is local: a zombie at a station only keeps working automatically when its zone has a Zombie Supplier Station with a zombie on it. Tools matter too — a station without the right tool is a station that does nothing and earns no points. Station-by-station mastery needs are on zombie mastery and perks.

Which zombie stations need no input at all?

Gathering stands are the true automation. They consume no materials at all, so a zombie standing on one produces forever. That covers stone, marble, logs, iron ore, clay, sand and crop harvesting, each needing only the matching tool in the zombie’s hand.

Station Output Tool
Zombie Stone Quarry 1 Stone Pickaxe
Zombie Marble Quarry 1 Marble Pickaxe
Lumberjack stand 1 Log + 2 Stick Axe
Zombie Miner 1 Iron Ore + 2 Coal Pickaxe
Clay Digger Stand 1 Clay Shovel
Sand Digger Stand 1 Sand Shovel
Gardener Stand Sows and harvests beds in the Garden or Vineyard Shovel

Two notes worth keeping. The Zombie Miner has a perk, Magpie’s Eye, that gives a 10% chance of an extra Gem per batch. And community reports suggest the Gardener Stand also needs a sign posted on the plot to tell the zombie what to sow in that row.

How do you unlock the underground factory?

You reach the Factory from the Inquisition Base cellar after Albert’s early base dialogue, clear one Blockage, repair a Carousel, then buy the Conveyors and Assembly bench technologies. Only one of the five possible entrances has to be opened to trigger the discovery.

Step Cost Prerequisite
Clear a Blockage into the Factory 4 Iron Detail + 1 Reinforced Beam Building mastery 8
Repair the Broken Zombie Carousel 6 Bronze Gear + 4 Bronze Detail + 4 Wooden Plank Building mastery 5, plus a zombie stationed on it for power
Conveyors technology 70 red + 20 blue tech points Tool Rack II, Jack reputation 50
Assembly bench technology 75 red + 20 blue tech points Conveyors
Build Assembly bench I 6 Reinforced Plank + 4 Bronze Gear + 4 Bronze Detail Assembly bench technology
Lay Conveyor Belt 1 Bronze Gear + 1 Fabric per tile Conveyors technology
Lay Underground Conveyor 4 Bronze Gear + 2 Fabric, plus 1 Factory power per tile Conveyors technology

The two technologies together cost 145 red and 40 blue before prerequisites. Database sources also list a separate build-from-scratch Zombie Carousel at 6 Bronze Gear + 6 Iron Detail + 4 Wooden beam under the Zombie Gears technology, so repair and new construction are not the same numbers — check which one your save is showing.

How does factory power work?

Every conveyor tile adds one point of demand and every staffed Carousel supplies seven points of capacity. The Factory panel compares the two. If demand is higher than capacity the whole line stops working, no matter how many zombies you have assigned to it.

An empty Carousel supplies nothing. You have to physically station a zombie on it — a spinning carousel with nobody riding it is decoration. That is the most common reason a line that looks powered refuses to move. The factory power guide goes deeper on the capacity math.

What is the best first production line to build?

The official tutorial’s first line is the one to copy: 1 Log plus 4 Bronze Nails makes 4 Wooden Kit I. It needs a worker with Building mastery 2, no station extension, and an Assembly bench I connected to the belt network.

Line Input per batch Output Worker requirement
Tutorial line 1 Log + 4 Bronze Nails 4 Wooden Kit I Building mastery 2
Upgraded line 1 Log 4 Wooden Kit I Building mastery 3, plus Wooden Kit I tech and the Auto-hammer extension

The upgrade is worth it. Wooden Kit I costs 100 red and 10 blue tech points and unlocks the Auto-hammer extension at 2 Bronze Gear + 6 Iron Detail + 2 Iron Ingot, which removes the bronze nails from the recipe entirely. Fewer inputs per batch means fewer supply runs to babysit.

How many zombies does a full kitchen automation need?

Four, by the community’s most common setup: one milling flour, one kneading dough, one tending the oven, and one supplying. That count is a community figure rather than an official one, but it lines up with the three-role model above.

The general rule scales from there. Give every zone at least one supplier, put one operator on every station you want running, use porters for anything crossing zones, and let conveyors plus a Zombie Supply Porter handle movement inside the factory.

Every one of those workers still has to come from somewhere. The free five from the story, and the corpse-by-corpse revival chain behind the rest, are on how to get zombie workers, and the perks that make each operator faster are on zombie mastery and perks.

Why does a powered line still stop?

Check power first, then supply, then tools. If demand exceeds capacity the line halts, if the zone has no Zombie Supplier Station with a zombie on it the stations starve, and if the zombie is missing the tool its mastery needs it will not work at all.

Jack’s Factory Tour adds its own check: the rating is the smaller of demand and capacity, and it has to reach 20. Twenty belt tiles against three staffed Carousels is 20 demand and 21 capacity, which passes. The tour also needs 3 Steel Ingot delivered first for Man of Steel, and each of the two quests awards 10 Jack reputation.

A line like that will not staff itself either. Corruption sets how many perk slots each operator has, which is covered on corruption and red skulls, and the benches you are feeding sit on the crafting stations list.
