Graveyard Keeper 2 Zombie Workers — How to Get Every One
Five zombie workers are free from the Plague Doctor and Gunter. Every extra worker needs a clean corpse, Reanimation Liquid, a matching collar and an Envy day.
How do you get zombie workers in Graveyard Keeper 2?
You get five zombie workers for free from the story, then revive every additional worker yourself. The free ones come from the Plague Doctor’s Sweet Dreams quest (2) and Gunter’s tarot quest at reputation 10 (3). Every worker after that needs the Resurrection Lab, a six-organ corpse, Reanimation Liquid, a matching Zombie Collar, Faith, and an Envy day.
You can start assigning zombies before you ever build one. Fextralife notes the first batch arrives from Gunter’s tarot quest, so the free workers are not locked behind the resurrection chain. If you are stuck on the later steps, the zombie resurrection errors page separates the five independent checks the lab runs.
Which five zombie workers are free?
Two come from the Plague Doctor’s Sweet Dreams quest line, and three come from Gunter’s tarot quest Friendship Written in the Stars. Fextralife describes the same five as Gunter’s first batch, triggered by returning the Tarot Cards from the Port and picking “Take zombies” at 10 Gunter reputation.
| NPC | Quest | Zombie workers | Gate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plague Doctor | Sweet Dreams | 2 | Finish Albert’s lab storyline |
| Gunter | Friendship Written in the Stars | 3 | Gunter reputation 10 — pick “Take zombies” |
| Gunter | The Ingenious Gentleman Don Keyote (Necronomicon) | — (unlocks Reanimation Liquid tech and the collar recipes) | Gunter reputation 20 / 30 |
That third row is not a worker, it is the unlock that makes your own revivals possible. Clearing the Necronomicon quest hands you the book, unlocks the Reanimation Liquid technology, and opens the collar recipes on the same branch: Reanimation for the Bronze Collar, tiers II and III for the Gold and Steel collars.
How do you open the Resurrection Lab?
Finish Albert’s lab storyline, Sweet Dreams, then open the old door next to the Morgue. It costs 1 Bronze Detail and 1 Melted Fat. Once you are inside, the Resurrection Lab holds the resurrection window, but it only has power on one day of the week.
That door is easy to walk past, because it sits beside the Morgue rather than inside it. Two more things sit behind Gunter’s reputation track: the Reanimation Liquid technology at reputation 20 and 30, and the collar recipes on the same branch. Nothing about the room itself is random.
What does a corpse need before you can revive it?
The corpse must still hold all six vital organs: skull, brain, heart, guts, bones and skin. If any slot is filled by a Surgeon’s Error the lab rejects the body with “This body is missing vital organs. You can’t make zombies without them.”
| Requirement | Detail |
|---|---|
| Corpse organs | All 6 vital organs intact — no Surgeon’s Error in any slot |
| Reanimation Liquid | 1 × per resurrection; the recipe uses exactly 2 red + 1 green + 4 blue runes |
| Zombie Collar | Red skull cap must be at least the corpse’s red skull count |
| Faith | Taken per the on-screen prompt; the tutorial gives no universal number |
| Day | Envy day only, unless the God of the storms buff is active |
Check the organ list before you spend anything. A body holding a Surgeon’s Error is not a slow revival, it is a flat refusal, and the error text names the missing organs rather than the problem slot.
How do you craft Reanimation Liquid?
One Reanimation Liquid needs exactly 2 red, 1 green and 4 blue runes in the alchemy recipe. A working rune combination reported by database sources is Clay + Alcohol + Salt, one of each. You can also buy the liquid from Gunter and from the alchemist, but owning it does not skip the technology gate.
The rune cost is fixed no matter how you obtain the item, and knowing a valid combination does not bypass discovery — the recipe still has to be unlocked through Gunter’s Necronomicon quest. The alchemy recipes page covers the bench and the other essence-driven mixtures.
Which day can you resurrect a zombie?
Only on an Envy day — the Resurrection Lab is powered on that day alone, and if the power runs out you wait for the next one. A successful Prayer for Storms grants the God of the storms buff, and while that buff is active you can resurrect on any day.
The storm buff is the only way around the calendar. It turns a week-long wait into an instant revival, so it is worth holding a prepared corpse and a full material set until a Prayer for Storms lands. Faith generation and prayer scheduling are covered under faith and inspirations.
What are the name and appearance rules?
The resurrection window rolls a random name for each zombie from a pool of 40 and gives you a “Roll Name” button to reroll. Appearance is fixed on the corpse before resurrection: 10 head types crossed with 5 hair colours, and it does not change afterwards.
What should you do with your first zombie workers?
Put the five free workers on the stations you check most often, then branch out. Each station decides which of the five masteries the zombie trains, so match the worker to the job before you spend points. A station with no supplier and no tool sits idle no matter how many zombies you own.
Zombie mastery and perks explains which tree each station feeds. The zombie production line walks through the operator, supplier and porter roles. Red skulls decide how many perks each worker can hold, which is covered on corruption and red skulls.
